We are excited to share that a member of the Dried Fish Matters (DFM) research team was recently honoured at the Magnificent Women’s Award Gala (MWAG), an event held in celebration of International Women’s Day, on March 22, 2025.
Organized by the Women’s Centre of the University of Manitoba, the gala recognized the achievements and contributions of outstanding women across various fields. Among this year’s recipients was our very own Sami Sobhan – DFM Master’s student at the University of Manitoba, who received the Women in Environmental Studies Award. This award celebrates her commitment to environmental scholarship and her valuable contributions to the DFM project and beyond.
The evening brought together a community of inspiring individuals dedicated to making meaningful change. At DFM, we are proud to support and collaborate with women whose work embodies care, leadership, and critical inquiry—especially in spaces where their efforts have historically gone unrecognized.
