The Dried Fish Matters (DFM) project continues to expand its research network in India through new collaborations with researchers and institutional partners. Building on its ongoing research activities, DFM is extending its scoping studies to four additional Indian states: Karnataka, Maharashtra, Mizoram, and Manipur, bringing together researchers with diverse regional expertise to strengthen the project’s understanding of dried fish economies.

In Karnataka, Dr. Amalendu Jyothishi, Dr. Priya Gupta, and Dr. Ramachandran Bhatta will lead scoping research activities. Meanwhile, Mr. Ramachandrudu Barigela will coordinate research in Mizoram and Manipur, extending DFM’s geographical reach into northeastern India. In Maharashtra, the project will collaborate with the Dakshin Foundation, where Ms. Trisha Gupta, Mr. Ishaan Khot, and Dr. Naveen Namboothri will lead scoping research into the region’s dried fish economy.

As DFM’s research activities continue to develop across South and Southeast Asia, building and strengthening regional partnerships remains central to its interdisciplinary approach, enabling the project to draw on local knowledge, institutional expertise, and collaborative research networks to better understand the social economy of dried fish.
