Abstract:

The report examines transitions within marine fisheries in India and Andhra Pradesh. It analyses state-wise marine fish production trends from 2011–12 to 2021–22, changes in key characteristics of the marine fisheries sector based on the 2010 and 2016 Marine Fisheries Censuses, and district-level production patterns across Andhra Pradesh using primary data. As part of the larger Dried Fish Matters project, the report also highlights the dried fish sector where data are available. Although dried fish remains underrepresented in official datasets, available export data indicate its growing significance within marine product exports. By bringing together national, state-level, and district-level evidence, the report provides a concise overview of production trends, sectoral shifts, and emerging issues relevant to marine fisheries and dried fish value chains in Andhra Pradesh.
