Help:Image uploader
The Upload Wizard is the default method for uploading files to the DFM Wiki. It replicates the tool used in Wikimedia Commons. The below screenshot illustrates a typical uploading process.
Step one: A licensing tutorial is displayed. This infographic outlines basic copyright rules concerning which images can be uploaded to this wiki. Original works (uploaded by the author) are always allowed, while works created or inspired by others can be uploaded on some conditions.
Step two: You can select one or multiple files (up to 50 files at the time) and begin uploading.
Step three: You have to clarify the licensing status of the file or files. Works created with DFM funding are subject to SSHRC policies, including the principle that "research data collected with the use of public funds belong, to the fullest extent possible, in the public domain and available for reuse by others" [1]. As such, by default any files uploaded to the DFM wiki are released under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, meaning that others can freely reuse and adapt the images you upload, provided they give credit to the author and share any derivative versions using the same license terms.
Step four: You are required to add basic descriptive information for each file. It is possible to set some of this information in bulk, by assigning the same description or categories (subject tags) to all the files at once.
Step five: If the files are uploaded successfully, the results are summarized in the final step to make it easy to copy and paste file information for the intended use.
