Derek Johnson (DFM Project Director) is Professor in the Department of Anthropology, the University of Manitoba. Derek's primary area of research is the political ecology of small-scale fisheries. He spent many years working on the marine fishery of Gujarat State, India. He has collaborated with others on research in other parts of South Asia, and elsewhere globally.
