Derek Johnson (DFM Project Director) is Professor in the Department of Anthropology, the University of Manitoba. Derek's research looks at intersections of political ecology, economy, governance, meaning, food, and wellbeing in small-scale fisheries. He spent many years working on the marine fishery of Gujarat State, India. He has collaborated with others on research in other parts of South Asia, and elsewhere globally.
