Help:Getting started
This site is a collective workspace for the Dried Fish Matters project, designed to support the open sharing of drafts and discussion. Anything shared here will accessible on the web but will not be indexed by search engines. This system operates on MediaWiki, the same software that powers Wikipedia and many other sites.
Creating an account
You need to create an account in order to make edits on this wiki. If you are not yet logged in, you should see a link with the text "Anonymous" near the top of the page:
If you click or tap on this link, you will see the options to "Create account" or "Log in":
Selecting "Create account" will take you to a simple form asking you to provide a username (e.g., FirstnameLastname), a password, your email address, and the answer to an anti-spam question:
Click or tap the "Create your account" button and you will be ready to go!
The system will send you an automated email message asking you to confirm your email address. You must click on the link in this message to confirm before saving any edits.
Editing
To contribute, simply log in.
Click/tap on the "edit" tab at the top of any page. You will need to confirm the email address associated with your account before editing.
Anyone affiliated with the project is welcome to contribute to the wiki.
Structured (threaded) discussion is available through the "Discussion" link at the top of each page.
Please feel free to try things out by making text edits on the Sandbox page!
The "Edit" link at the top of each page will allow you to make changes to that page, as though you were in a word processor. The "Discussion" link opens up a forum-style discussion where you can post and respond to comments or questions about the document. See MediaWiki Help for more instructions -- we are using the same software that powers Wikipedia.
