abstract
Dried fish has an outstanding contributory role in nutrition and food security worldwide. In the context of global food security and livelihood of small scale fishermen in developing countries, it is dispiriting that its importance is poorly understood. Therefore, the main objective of the present study was to determine the extent and pattern of respondent’s participation in dried fish in Manipur and Mizoram. In Manipur four districts were selected (Imphal West, Bishnupur, Chandel and Thoubal and four districts were selected (Aizwel, Lunglei, Mamit and Kolashib) in Mizoram as the locale of the study. One hundred sixty respondents and fifteen markets were selected following stratified disproportionate random sampling technique from the target population of Manipur and Mizoram. Data were collected by the researcher herself during September, 2020 to Feb, 2021 using pre-tested interview schedule.
