FAST
Financial transactions can be accessed in FAST, the University of Manitoba’s financial reporting application. New users complete a basic training course before being granted authorization to access FAST.
The account details are:
- Fund: 320821 – SSHRC/PG895-2018-1017/Johnson,Derek
- Organization: 316200 – Anthropology
- Program: 2000 – Sponsored Research Expenses
The following instructions provide quick reference for common accounting needs.
To check current account balances, look at the FAST report Operating Statement > Summary by Acct Detail > Current Year. (Data from prior years, or for the project since inception, can be viewed by selecting the report “Date Range” instead of “Current Year”.)
- The current balance is in the row “Total All Expenses”, column “Budget Available”.
- The outstanding commitments are listed in the column “O/S Commitments”. These include amounts owing to contractors and consultants (in the sections “Professional and External Services” and “Materials, Supplies and Services) and to students who are receiving fellowships in installments (in the section “Student Awards”).
- Amounts paid to students are listed in two places: under “Student Wages” (Wages & Benefits) and under “Student Awards” (Non-Salary Expenditures). Click on the blue links to see a detailed list of transactions, with total, for the current year or selected date range.
Committed amounts to be sent to other institutions via Transfer of Funds agreements are NOT listed in FAST as these transactions need to be requested manually by the Project Director. Similarly, student amounts are only listed as outstanding commitments if they are set up as ongoing awards (as opposed to casual employment positions, whereby students are paid for hours reported worked).
Commodity code for requisitions to generate Purchase Orders for partner contracts will be 80141507 – Consumer based research or clinics or focus groups.
